Photo shows several things from the perspective of looking up from under the engine. On the lower left is evidence of an oil pan gasket leak. In the middle you can see the water pump and the weep hole on its underside. If the water pump seal was failing, you’d see some evidence of a coolant leak coming from this hole. On the right is the temperature controlled clutch associated with the radiator cooling fan. The warmer the temperature, the more grip the fan hub makes on the rotating shaft, and greater grip eliminates slipping and thus provides more cooling. Most vehicles today are equipped with electric fans that are more efficient because they don’t run at all unless they’re needed.
